After five years on Lincoln Avenue, mom and tot shop Bellybum Boutique in North Center is set to shutter at the end of March.
Owned by a mother of three, the eco-minded store has one of the largest selections of cloth diapers in Chicago, along with organic and designer merchandise for babies and moms (Aden + Anais blankets, Apple Park organic toys, Splendid post-maternity wear).
The store also specializes in developmental and sensory products for children with special needs, and owner Ellen Sternweiler plans to re-locate her indie boutique and open The Sensory Kids™ Store in the Northern suburbs later this year.
Until doors close on March 26, Bellybum is holding a “Leaving Chicago” sale. Everything in the store is discounted 15 to 90 percent, including all cloth diapers, baby gear and designer women’s apparel. The sale is currently accessible to loyal customers only, but will open up to everyone beginning March 4, in-store and online.
