Johnnie Walker Blue Label Gentlemen’s Holiday Escape

December 6, 2012–Chicago magazine celebrated the holidays with Master of Whiskey Kyle McHugh at The Drake Hotel. Typhanie Monique performed from her new album, Yuletide Groove, as the fashionable men in attendance sipped Johnnie Walker Blue Label and enjoyed complimentary services from Haberdash’s master barber, Charles Lenox, and custom fittings from Oak Street Bootmakers and Trunk Club. Kyle McHugh treated guests to a Johnnie Walker tasting while they waited for their custom engraved bottles.

Chairs for Charity 2012

November 7, 2012–Chicagoland’s design lovers came out in support of the Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS (DIFFA) at Chicago Home + Garden’s third annual Chairs for Charity event at Cosentino. The evening featured a silent auction of one-of-a-kind, reimagined vintage chairs from 15 of Chicago’s top designers. Guests enjoyed delicious hors d’oeuvres from Texas de Brazil, wine from City Winery, and beer from Peroni. The event raised more than $8,000 to fund Chicago-area HIV/AIDS service agencies that provide direct service, preventative education, and outreach to people who are HIV positive, living with AIDS, or at risk for infection.

Chicago’s Table 2012

October 26, 2012–Chicago magazine celebrated our editorial dining coverage at the second annual Chicago’s Table event held at the River East Art Center. More than 300 attendees dined on delectable dishes from 12 of the city’s best restaurants and chefs—picked from the pages of Chicago magazine—and sipped perfectly paired cocktails from Bulleit®, Don Julio®, Ketel One®, and Tanqueray®, as well as beer from Blue Moon Brewing Company and wine from City Winery. The Tile Shop provided a fantastic champagne bar and Cadillac furnished complimentary valet service. The event raised more than $8,000 for The Auxiliary Board of Northwestern Memorial Hospital’s work in support of research and therapies for stroke patients at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

Eve J. Alfillé 25th Anniversary Exhibit Party

October 20, 2012–Eve J. Alfillé Gallery and Studio celebrated 25 years of Eve’s extraordinary fine art jewelry. The event unveiled Eve’s newest collection, “Déjà Vu.” Throughout the afternoon, guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres courtesy of Donna Goodman catering and performances by Music Institute of Chicago. Evanston Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony as part of the celebration to honor Eve’s 25 great years.

Designs for Dignity Kitchen Walk 2012

October 13, 2012–Designs for Dignity’s annual Kitchen Walk was a smashing success with more than 320 attendees and raising more than $47,000 for its project work. Guests enjoyed food and wine tastings throughout the tour of seven stunning homes. Despite the rain, spirits were high and a great crowd gathered at The Journeyman Distillery for the auction and reception where the dream kitchen raffle winners were drawn. Design Harvest 2012: A Visual Feast of Design on Grand Avenue

September 29-30, 2012–Presented by the West Town Chamber of Commerce and Post 27, the third annual Design Harvest on Grand Avenue was the best yet with a huge crowd of more than 12,000 home and garden design enthusiasts! Festival-goers enjoyed perusing and shopping in the showcased Grand Avenue Design District stores and the large curated tent of more than 50 home and garden design vendors. The fest featured local West Town food vendors, Blue Moon Pumpkin Ale beer, hay rides to Christy Webber Landscapes Farm & Garden Center, and cozy hay bale seating to enjoy a great lineup of live country music by The Hideout. It was a beautiful fall weekend and a successful event sponsored by Chicago Home & Garden.

Common Threads’ Second Annual Cook-Off

September 27, 2012–Common Threads’ culinary fundraising event raised more than $34,000 to benefit health and nutritional education programs in Chicago to low-income youth and their families. Local chefs participated at Fulton’s on the River to create and serve their favorite cookout-themed dishes within four categories: In a Glass, On a Bun, In a Shell, or On a Stick. Guests sampled each dish and voted for the top in each category. The winning chefs of the night were: Michael Stewart of Roy’s Restaurant for In a Glass; Kevin Abshire of Due Lire Vino & Cucina for In a Shell; Sarah Grueneberg of Spiaggia for On a Stick; and Curtis Hawk of Zed 451 for On a Bun.

New M Missoni Shop at Saks Fifth Avenue

September 27, 2012–The Junior League of Chicago and Chicago magazine celebrated the launch of the new M Missoni shop at Saks Fifth Avenue Chicago. Attendees previewed the latest M Missoni collection and shopped the fall season’s most exclusive looks. A portion of the evening’s proceeds benefitted the Junior League of Chicago. Attendees enjoyed refreshing Peroni and delectable hors d’oeuvres. Chicago magazine’s fashion editor, Heiji Choy Black, offered expert styling tips for the fall season.
