Trend: Paisley Park

Some recall paisley as the psychedelic apostrophe that dotted dad’s ties. Others know of its prouder provenance as a botanical-inspired pattern woven into shawls in Paisley, Scotland, in the 18th century. Whatever your associations with this old-school motif, it’s back for another whirl. Showing up in new colors and incarnations, it feels both hip and … Read more

Get Carded

Foursided on Clark Street is one of my favorite Chicago framers—they have a great selection of frame options and approach everything with the eye of an artist and the attention to detail of a good contractor. It took me right back to Mrs. Sturtz’s third-grade classroom.

Also, “The Pan Within,” a solo show at Black Walnut Gallery given by furniture designer, sculptor, and owner of said gallery, Robert Wayner (his sculpture is shown above).

On the Market: A Chicago Price That Trumps Trump

From this three-bedroom, four-bath condo on the 73rd floor of Trump Hotel & Tower, the view is spectacular—and relatively cheap. Sure, it’s priced at a little over $2 million, but that’s a full $1.2 million less than the developers want for the same view, and the same floor plan, four flights up…
