Not a Pitchfork fan? Consider schlepping to Humboldt Park for the Latin Jazz Festival. Here are three acts you don’t want to miss:

Candido Camero

He’s played Cuban percussion alongside legends like Dizzy Gillespie and Sonny Rollins. On Friday night he will be accompanied by a few other world-class musicians including revered Cuban pianist Hilario Duran. The stylistic range of these seasoned musicians cover many incarnations of jazz and Cuban folk with the pulse of Candido's legendary conga skills running throughout.

Son Bayu

This local group alternates between traditional Afro-Cuban jazz standards and the occasional cover of American tunes with a Latin flare. Frankie "Pancho" Merced leads the group on piano, and the rest of the harmonic force comes from the saxophone and vibraphone while the Latin percussion runs underneath. You can also catch them at some of the recurring Latin jazz nights at Mas o Menos or Tumbao.

Quarteto ACHE

When a band leader like Bobby Sanabria is also the drummer, it makes for fantastically explosive compositions. He brings with him a cast of jazz practitioners including saxophone and flute, each member a gem in their own right.
