A shot of the final performance of the Replacements in Grant Park in 1991.

Alt-rock fanatics can rejoice to hear some big news today: The Replacements will be headlining at Chicago's Riot Fest later this summer, their first show together since 1991.

(And the original Riot Fest lineup was already enough to nearly cause a riot.)

The band's reunion in Chicago seems rather fitting since their final performance took place at Taste of Chicago in Grant Park (just check out the Bulls championship banner in the photo above). While bassist Tommy Stinson has claimed that the group never officially separated, the Replacements' homecoming of sorts will be electric nonetheless.

If it's been a while since you busted out your Replacements tape, revisit the punky group in its full 90's glory by checking out this recording of their last show ever (courtesy WXRT)—until September.
