Constellation is hosting a jazz quartest tonight that Chicago editor Elly Fishman thinks “could get weird.”

“I’m performing at the Green Mill tomorrow as part of The Paper Machete, a “live magazine” with musical guests. I’m also hoping to see the Ricky Jay documentary Deceptive Practice at the Music Box, about the world’s greatest living sleight-of-hand artist and his memories of the magicians who inspired him; he’s also a legendary historian of magic.” –Whet Moser, associate digital editor

“Tonight, I’m going to Mike Reed’s new venue Constellation where Reed is playing with jazz guitarist Jeff Parker (of Tortoise fame), drummer Glen Kotche (of Wilco fame) and cellist Fred Lonberg-Holm (of knit-beanie fame). This quartet of dudes probably have over 25 side projects between them, each of them completely different, so I’m excited to see what they do together. It might get pretty sonically weird and experimental.  On Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. I’m going to hear my dad, Ted C. Fishman, interview Greg Bellow (Saul Bellow’s son) about his new memoir at the Printers Row Lit Fest. I’m a big fan of Bellow and my dad’s alright too. I might grab a Cubano at Cafecito while I’m down there because they grill the bread just right over there.”—Elly Fishman, associate editor

“I’m spending part of my birthday at Bellwether, the first of a new event series from the producers of Renegade Craft Fair and The Vintage Bazaar. With two days of live performances, art installations, film screenings, and the wonderfully named Beer + Brunch Feast, Bellwether looks awesome.” —Kaitlin Jakola, editorial intern

"I'm heading over Parson's Chicken and Fish this evening to take a look at Adam Rapoport's new book on grilling, and see what he has to say about the secrets to his marinades in a conversation with Eater's Daniel Gerzina." —Harry Sawyers, web editor
