SNL producer Lorne Michaels announced this morning that Oak Park's foremost funny girl Cecily Strong will join fellow Chicagoan Seth Meyers at the Weekend Update desk this season—not in her usual role as "The Girl You Wish You Hadn't Started a Conversation With at a Party," but as co-anchor. The news comes in light of Meyers' impending departure for Jay Leno's chair at Late Night in February.

Strong, who made her SNL debut last season, joins the ranks of Weekend Update-née-Second City comics Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. You can read a conversation with Ms. Strong from our March issue here and catch her Weekend Update debut on September 28 (along with host Tina Fey).
