Have you heard of Come Flea With Me? Started by sisters Kate Shifrin and Christie Weller about 10 years ago, it’s the most fun way to go to a flea market—that is, in a bus with about 20 other junk-loving kindred spirits, while eating yummy, homemade food. Shifrin recently told me about the upcoming Wheaton All Night Flea Market (August 20) and it sounded great. (A quick visit to the flea market promoters’ website, Zurko Productions, and I learned that both the Incredible Hulk and the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld are expected to be among the attractions; and you were considering going for the piles of old silverware!) While they usually serve breakfast, for this trip, the Come Flea With Me girls are planning a cocktail party en route to the market. The caravan stops in Wilmette and at Brimfield in Chicago, leaving approximately at 4 p.m. and returning at midnight. Call 773-520-4338 for more specific times and details. These events fill up fast (particularly the overnight excursions), so if you are interested, inquire soon.
