The other day I was driving along Wrightwood in Lincoln Park, right past Rose Angelis, and my train of thought was: I had a weird date there once, or was that Geja’s, does everyone have weird dates at those places, wait, what’s that?… a home décor outlet shop I don’t know about?! That was when, I’m embarrassed to admit, I swerved into the oddly shaped parking lot of the 1730 Outlet Store, where the locally based wholesaler Tag unloads its overstock. The place looks like a messier version of the Crate&Barrel Outlet (no surprise—Tag is one of Crate’s vendors) and it has been there for 26 years. So much for discoveries! But if you have not heard of it and want to up the ante for fall/winter accessorizing this year without spending too much dough, it’s a great place to buy cheap seasonal cloth napkins, table runners, dishes, doormats (the one above is $31.95), and other wares. Stop by the store before your next weird date or shop online at Tag2U.
