I love the look of vintage, but lack the patience for digging through a junk-filled thrift shop. That’s why I love Lenny & Me Home, the décor outpost of Lenny & Me, a retro clothing store that’s been a Wicker Park staple for more than 12 years. (Ana Camino owns both shops, along with Three Birds Gallery.) The home store offers a well-edited selection of midcentury and 1970’s-era treasures, such as furniture, lighting, and kitschy housewares. I stopped in Sunday and fell for a bold turquoise Detecto hamper ($180), a fiberglass seat made in the style of Eames’ Eiffel stool ($280), and a smart Lucite serving tray ($110). I also spied several pairs of floral barkcloth curtain panels, heaps of vintage aprons and table linens, and a groovy pea- green fondue set. I ended up buying an old recipe case, partly because it was filled with recipes clipped from newspapers dating back to 1968. I’m hosting a brunch next weekend, and plan to serve a retro version of Dutch Breakfast Cake. Everything old is new again!
