Two design events this weekend (they share just one overlapping day: Saturday) are hoping to lure members of the trade and everyday enthusiasts in search of one-of-a-kind finds. We’re not choosing favorites—why not hit both?—but it’s true we’ll be manning a Chicago Home + Garden booth at one.
At a Fall Antique and Design Market inside
New Metal Crafts’ River North showroom (812 N. Wells St.) look for vintage furnishings and lighting, French antiques, fine linens, rugs, and more from a vendor list that includes
Daniels Antiques,
Jean Allen,
Armand Lee,
Bedside Manor,
Saffron Vintage, Edward R. Varndell (2153 W. North Ave.), and
Barley Twist. Shopping hours are Oct. 1 and 2 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It’s the first time New Metal Crafts has hosted an event of this kind, so we’re excited to see how one of our favorite lighting sources pulls it off.
Nearby in West Town, 50 vendors will set up shop at the
Design Harvest street festival on Oct. 2 and 3, also a first-timer on the scene this year. Presented by the West Town Chamber of Commerce and
Post 27, the Grand Avenue event will showcase local furniture makers, antique vendors, and design retailers (in the past year, this stretch of Grand has exploded with stores such as Buckingham Interiors—pictured at right). With music sponsored by
The Hideout and French wines by
Lulu B, this rain-or-shine fest is a must—especially for us. Stop by our lounge to chat with
Chicago Home + Garden editors and a lineup of designers doling out design advice—bring floor plans and swatches! Festival hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. both days.
