Here's what to do:

Rebuilding Exchange (1740 W. Webster St.) just keeps getting cooler. It’s already the place to find awesome old building supplies such as lumber, sinks, and doors, and now, for Friday and Saturday only, it will transform into a “Collectors Bazaar.”

Here’s what that means: A bunch of artists (jewelry designers, prop stylists, set designers, and metal and wood fabricators) will be selling their unique collections of props, raw materials, hardware, and a lot more. Find animal pelts, vintage wallpaper, beads, old bicycles (see photo above), and yards of fabric. The idea is that artists and designers naturally collect lots of inspirational and cool-looking items, so why not let other people get their hands on them? The event runs Friday from 6 to 10 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Other sales and events:

The eco-conscious rug store Organic Looms (401 N. Wells St.) is launching its week-long sample sale on Saturday. You’ll be able to buy beautiful, hand-crafted rugs for up to 75 percent off. Prices range from $3,120 to $6,240, for an 8-foot-by-10-foot rug.

On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Unison (2000 W. Fulton) is hosting a designer trunk show all about kids. The event will feature Chicago-made products geared toward little ones (doll houses, art supplies, stuffed animals), an ice cream truck, free portraits by illustrator Laurent Varlet, and 15 percent off all Unison products.

Festival season isn’t over yet! This weekend is Highwood’s Starving Artists Festival in Everts Park (130 Highwood Avenue). Most of the artwork for sale is the same stuff you’ve seen at other art shows this summer, but discounted to move (many pieces are priced at less than $100!).
