SOFA Chicago (, the expo dedicated to sculpture, objects, functional art, and design, returns to the Festival Hall of Navy Pier (600 E. Grand Ave., November 3 through 6. Now in its 23rd year, the art fair will welcome more than 70 exhibitors from around the world, with participants like Cordesa Fine Art (San Francisco), Gladwell & Patterson (London), Kirra Galleries (Melbourne), Richard Norton Gallery (Chicago), Sokyo Gallery (Kyoto), and Wexler Gallery (Philadelphia).

One of this year’s highlights is the debut of “Passage,” a piece that acclaimed glass artist Bertil Vallien has spent 18 months crafting exclusively for SOFA Chicago. Represented by Hawk Galleries (Columbus, Ohio), Vallien’s three-meter-long glass boat installation is estimated to be worth $1 million.

Also keep your eyes peeled for works by local artists including Rory Coyne, Jim Dee, Daniel Jacob, and Janusz Walentynowicz.
