A recent study showed that 2,000 coyotes live in Chicago. But they’re not the only wildlife roaming the streets.
See them: Trotting along the Lakefront Trail.
Tip: Catch them heading out to forage at dawn or dusk.
See them: Perching at Montrose Point.
Tip: Don’t get too close, or you’ll trigger a fight-or-flight response.
See them: Swimming periodically in North Pond.
Tip: Freshly chewed trees signal they’re near.
See them: Nesting on the 28th floor of UIC’s University Hall, where a pair has lived since the late 1990s.
Tip: From the north lawn of North Pond, you might glimpse some in flight.
