As an homage to her family’s heirloom jewelry, abstract painter Rebecca Shore reimagined several of the traditional pieces. “I grew up with a lot of Victorian jewelry,” she says. “It was from a different world. It intrigued me.”
In the painting 01 (above), the Bucktown artist depicts a 19th-century necklace but prefers to leave the puzzling image open-ended. “I let people bring their own associations,” says Shore of her work. “I’m amazed at what people see.” Her new show, Barely Committed to Three Dimensions, opens at Corbett vs. Dempsey on January 30. corbettvsdempsey.com
