Old Mission Peninsula, Michigan

  • Drive Time 5 hours

Old Mission Peninsula, jutting 22 miles into Grand Traverse Bay in northern Michigan, features 100-year-old hemlocks and 991 acres of nature preserves, but the big draw is the booze. On Sundays from December 27 to February 28, strap on a pair of snowshoes and trek the Old Mission Snowshoe, Wine, and Brew Trail, which connects Brys Estate Vineyard and Winery, Bowers Harbor Vineyards, and Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales via a mile-long beginner’s path ($20 for a five-tasting flight at each, jollypumpkin.com). End the day at the brewery, known for its sour craft beers. Kick off your snowshoes and enjoy a mouth-puckering Madrugada.
