How did you get so good at 2K?
I played basketball in high school, college, and semipro. When I messed my knee up [at Kentucky State], I took a break. That’s when I picked up 2K.
Did you think you’d get drafted?
I had a lot of good interviews — it’s more than just playing, ’cause you’re representing an NBA organization. They liked the way I carried myself, but no one told me, “We’re gonna pick you up.” So I had no clue.
Data shows that in 2K men often pass the ball to women less. Have you found that?
With certain people, yes. But the team I played on before I got drafted had four to five females, and we never had problems. [The acceptance of women in esports] has to start with us. You have to push your way in and gain respect.
It’s very cool that even girls are starting to go into professional cybersport now and break the patterns regarding this profession. By the way, she has a chance to rise to any heights, because the same top teams are constantly changing between themselves, for example https://www.getinproleague.com/blog/post/sumail-has-replaced-ana-in-og-0gxe44gac here you can read about fast and unexpected changes in the composition. So getting on a good team and getting a foothold there now is not a problem.
