Bill Kim

“My wife is Puerto Rican and I’m Korean, so we are doing a lot of things from two different cultures.” Usually when we hear an earnest statement like that one, we cringe—but when it comes from Bill Kim, the creative force behind Urbanbelly, we rejoice that he and Yvonne Cadiz-Kim found each other and wish them the best. Their latest collaboration, bowing in mid-October, draws from such diverse outlets as Cadiz-Kim’s mother (a killer lechón offering), Los Angeles street art (think Shepard Fairey, who did the Obama Hope poster), and HotChocolate’s Mindy Segal (chocolate-chip-and-bacon cookies). And Kim brings it all together with affordable crowd pleasers such as an Asian meatball sandwich with rice noodles and mint. 1912 N. Western Ave.; 773-252-1414.
