* David Schalliol has a gallery of his Chicago public-housing photography up at Design Observer.
* Speaking of Schalliol's photography, I love his extraordinary photo of "God's Compassionate Center International Ministries."
* Alex Webb collaborates with Leica and Magnum Photos on an essay of Chicago street photography.
Leica & Magnum: Photographs from the Streets of Chicago by Alex Webb from Leica Camera on Vimeo.
* Webb was inspired by Ray Metzker's 1959 thesis project, "My Camera and I In the Loop."
* ChicagoGeek, a must-follow, shoots Blue Star Auto Stores, an 133-year-old building in the old Levee district with a long history: "Until 1900 it was a very respectable hotel but then illegal gambling began to take place in the basement, the upstairs became a brothel. Deep below the hotel was a series of secret tunnels, an elaborate 25-mile system. Today you can still see bricked-up entrances to the numerous gangster getaways."
* CBS News features Chicago photographer Eric Holubow, on Flickr at eholubow (h/t @kofchicago). His galleries are a great browse: he's got some amazing shots of St. Boniface, which I used to live right next door to, St. Stephens (which I used to live just down the street from) and the old Cook County Hospital (which I used to work down the street from).
* The legend of Vivian Maier, extensively profiled in Chicago in 2010, just continues to grow.
* My vote for the next Vivian Maier? Charles Cushman.
