* ChicagoGeek, a must-follow, shoots Blue Star Auto Stores, an 133-year-old building in the old Levee district with a long history: "Until 1900 it was a very respectable hotel but then illegal gambling began to take place in the basement, the upstairs became a brothel. Deep below the hotel was a series of secret tunnels, an elaborate 25-mile system. Today you can still see bricked-up entrances to the numerous gangster getaways."

* CBS News features Chicago photographer Eric Holubow, on Flickr at eholubow (h/t @kofchicago). His galleries are a great browse: he's got some amazing shots of St. Boniface, which I used to live right next door to, St. Stephens (which I used to live just down the street from) and the old Cook County Hospital (which I used to work down the street from).
