The thing about a taquito is you can’t have just one. Building on the success of Takito Kitchen in Wicker Park, an ownership group including chef David Dworshak plans a mid-August opening for Bar Takito (201 N. Morgan St., 773-531-2120), in the West Loop space that held Kabocha.

About twice as big, seatwise, as the fancy-taco-focused Takito Kitchen, Bar Takito will offer a broader menu, adding other Latin American specialties such as Peruvian-inspired seviche and Colombian arepas. Dworshak teases a few other items, like fish prepared simply on the plancha and desserts such as a popcorn-butterscotch mousse and mocha tres leches. Elements from the beverage program will inform the food. “We want it to feel like a beer dinner or wine dinner, but one that’s going on all the time,” Dworshak says. We once attended a beer dinner that was going on all the time, but then we graduated.
