Jason Vincent of Nightwood (2119 S. Halsted St., 312-526-3385) was announced today as one of the Best New Chefs of 2013 by Food & Wine magazine, recognized for “making simple, delicious food with superb skills.”

Vincent’s initial response? “Holy shit,” he wrote on the Nightwood blog. “This is a moment that I’ve wondered (read: obsessed) about for close to 15 years.”

Here's Chicago’review of Nightwood.

Also of note on the list is Alex Stupak, who worked under Grant Achatz at Alinea and made the list for his Mexican cuisine at Empellón Cocina and Empellón Taqueria in New York, and Justin Cogley, who cut his teeth at Charlie Trotter's before heading the kitchen at Aubergine in Carmel, California.
