Openings

Monday, 4/22: New Rebozo (46 E. Superior St., 312-202-4191) opened a second location this week bringing authentic Mexican flavors to River North.

Thursday, 4/25: The indie coffee star Intelligentsia (2646 N. Milwaukee Ave., 773-945-1690) opens the first of three new Chicago locations, a coffee bar in Logan Square. Locations in Old Town (June) and Wicker Park (fall 2013) to follow.

Friday, 4/26: A 100-seat Japanese brasserie, Kabocha (952 W. Lake, 312-666-6214) opens with a menu that blends modern American, Japanese, and French, such as duck confit and fennel pot stickers with sour–orange glaze.

 

Morsels

Kevin Ives, formerly the corporate chef for the Francesca’s chain, is the new corporate chef of 4-Star Restaurant Group’s Chicago-area restaurants: The Smoke Daddy, Frasca Pizzeria & Wine Bar, Dunlays, D.O.C. Wine Bar, and Crosby’s Kitchen.

Pecking Order (4416 N. Clark St., 773-907-9900) introduces a monthly Sunday supper starting April 28 with slow-braised chicken and pork adobo. The family-style menu changes each month. Reservations accepted.

The Sepia mixologist Josh Pearson has left the West Loop restaurant to join the project still taking shape in the old Swirl Wine Bar spot in River North.

The neighborhood coffee hotspot Bridgeport Coffee Company (3101 S. Morgan St., 773-247-9950) plans to expand to the South Loop this fall. The new restaurant will boast an outdoor patio, sandwiches, and cheese plates.

Art and Chelsea Jackson, the owners of the restaurant/bar/pie haven Pleasant House Bakery, plan to open a second location in Three Oaks, Michigan.
