Monday, 4/29: The minimalist Mediterranean spot Naf Naf Grill opened its fifth Chicago-area location (10433 Touhy Ave., Rosemont, 847-294-0700). Three other Naf Nafs are scheduled to open this year.

Wednesday, 5/1: At the new Gari Sushi & Asian Bistro (2020 W. Chicago Ave., 773-486-1118), chef Alfredo Cruz is taking an artistic angle on sushi and Asian fare like rama soba, curry fried rice, and Mussaman curry.

Forget your morning doughnut. Big Star (1531 N. Damen Ave., 773-235-4039) has teamed up with HalfWit Coffee Roasters for churros con chocolate and coffee starting at 8 a.m. every Sunday at the Big Star food truck by the restaurant’s to-go window. Update: Due to a last-minute change, you'll have to wait until Sunday, May 12 for this one. Sorry!

La Farine Bakery (2909 N. Milwaukee Ave., 312-850-4019), which shuttered its Chicago Avenue location in January, is settling in a Logan Square storefront in June that’s three times the size of the old bakery.

Already offering Sunday brunch, Trenchermen (2039 W. North Ave., 773-661-1540) introduces a Saturday bar brunch starting this week at 10 a.m.

After 53 years in the motel that shares its name, the River North diner Ohio House Coffee Shop has closed.

Old Town’s new Plum Market (1233 N. Wells St.), which opens June 13, is partnering with Zingerman’s to bring the Ann Arbor, Michigan-based food company’s well-known freshly baked breads, pies, and pastries as well as cheeses, gelato, sobets, and candy, namely handmade peanut brittle and fudge.
