This belly bomb of sugar is a heavy dish, but completely worth it. 

"So it's not free? You guys are just waiting in line because you're excited?" was just one of the comments from baffled passersby who witnessed the crowd gathered outside of Black Dog Gelato (859 N. Damen Ave., 773-235-3116) last night for their mash-up special with Glazed and Infused (813 W. Fulton Market, 312-226-5556).

Well, this doughnut/gelato combo was a special offer for one night only—what do you expect?

I waited almost an hour for my Glazed and Infused Terry's toffee doughnut and milk stout gelato combination. I'm proud to admit that I ate every bite, and I don't regret a thing. It was just that good.

This delicious Chicago original could be the next big trend in pastries. Take that, Cronuts!
