Openings

• Friday, 8/30: After some city permit delays, The Bentley Tavern (2834 N. Southport Ave., 773-477-2283) opened in Lakeview this past weekend. Diners can order a straightforward Bentley Burger, or choose a more elevated dish such as roasted duck breast with aubergine caponata. Chef Ian Flowers is cooking up only dinner for the moment, but plans to launch a weekend brunch program September 14th.

Morsels

In the event that you can actually get a table at Next (good luck), the restaurant just released the preview video for its new menu. Grant Achatz and Nick Kokonas’s new round of themed dining plans to explore France’s elite culinary competition, the Bocuse D’or.

Longman & Eagle (2657 N. Kedzie Ave., 773-276-7110) hops on the doughnut bandwagon, adding a ‘Sunday Donut Shop” pop-up to its Off Site Bar space. Pastry chef Jeremy Brutzkus and sous chef Vincent Knittel create both classic and seasonal varieties of the pastry, all of which will only be offered Sunday mornings until supplies run out. Benjamin Teas and Dark Matter coffee can also be purchased at the pop-up.
