Have Sunday Dinner Club on a Monday night when the underground dinner series pops up at Half Acre Beer Company’s Tap Room (4257 N. Lincoln Ave., North Center, 773-248-4038) for a porchetta sandwich dinner—a $30 ticket buys you the aforementioned sandwich with a tomato aioli and pickles on a baguette, along with a white bean salad and a cherry panna cotta for dessert, plus three 13-ounce pours of the Half Acre beers of your choice.

Thursday, August 21

If you like beers that are made here, consider popping in to a conversation with brewers from Two Brothers, Piece, Metropolitan, and 5 Rabbit breweries and Anna Blessing (author of Locally Brewed, which spotlights the Midwest’s beer makers). You can get tickets to the $36 talk at the Standard Club (320 S. Plymouth Court, Loop) here.

Friday, August 22

To celebrate four years since its major revamp, Maria’s Packaged Goods & Community Bar (960 W. 31st St., Bridgeport, 773-890-0588) is throwing Bridgepork, a cleverly named barbecue and beer bash. Pair your special-occasion beers from breweries such as Revolution and Surly Brewing Company with a free brat topped with kimchi. The party starts at 8 p.m. and runs into the wee hours of the morning.

Saturday, August 23

There’s an event this weekend that will be a total sausage fest—quite literally, actually, as SausageFest Chicago kicks off on Friday and runs through the weekend. Encased meat masters from Paulina Meat Market, Bobak’s Sausage Company, and Bari, among others, will be slinging brats and other sausages. There’s also a full lineup of music and a tournament of knights from Medieval Times—check the list of happenings here.

Sunday, August 24

If you need a respite from all this week’s beer and sausage, consider the first-ever Farm-BQ at Bread & Wine (3732 W. Irving Park Rd., Irving Park, 773-866-5266), where chef Michael Dean Reynolds will be grilling up chickens from Little Farm on the Prairie to serve alongside standard barbecue sides (and, yes, a little beer, too.) You can snag a $50 ticket here.
