To raise money for the Chicago Shakespeare Theater, MK (868 N. Franklin St., Gold Coast, 312-482-9719) will be throwing a party with a Merchant of Venice theme. Exchange your money for silver and gold coins, which can then be traded in for $5-$10 cocktails and Venetian small plates. Admission is $20.

Tuesday, August 16

Shuck it up at GT Fish & Oyster (531 N. Wells St., River North, 312-929-3501), where they’ll be leading an oyster shucking demo at either 6 p.m. or 8 p.m. Your $50 ticket  includes 12 oysters that you’ll get to prep yourself and wine pairings, and if you stay for dinner afterwards, you’ll get 20 percent off your bill.

Wednesday, August 17

Tons of area restaurants will be paying homage to the late Charlie Trotter with dishes and specials starting today and running for five days, a celebration known as Charlie Trotter Day. See the list of participants, including Acadia and Intro, here.

Thursday, August 18

Jam out during Fountainhead’s (1970 W. Montrose Ave., Ravenswood, 773-697-8204) ska-heavy rooftop party, with appropriate music and beers starting at $5 from Colorado-based Ska Brewing. The party starts at 6 p.m.

Saturday, August 20

Go crazy with crayfish at Smack Shack (326 N. Morgan St., West Loop, 312-973-1336) during their first annual Crayfest, running from 3 to 10 p.m. Entry to the party (which costs $20 here) includes an all-you-can-eat seafood boil, plus a Hurricane cocktail and plenty of live music.
