Saturday, February 20

There’s a real SausageFest happening at Haymarket Pub & Brewery (737 W. Randolph St., West Loop, 312-638-0700), where you’ll be able to sample several housemade and guest-made sausages (including a knackwurst with cherry and stout mustard and a wild mushroom vegetarian variety) plus cheese and beer for $55 (tickets here). The party starts at noon.

Follow your sun salutation with a suds salutation at Temperance Beer Company’s (2000 Dempster St., Evanston, 847-864-1000) monthly Temperance Trikonasana event, where you get a vinyasa-style yoga class followed by a beer for $15. Tickets for the session, which starts at 1 p.m., are available here.

Improve your poultry butchering techniques at a chicken workshop at Local Foods (1427 W. Willow St., Industrial Corridor, 312-432-6575). You’ll get practice trussing and butterflying, and your $54 class fee lets you take home the birds you break down. Pick up tickets here.

Comfort food is better when you make it yourself, which you’ll learn how to do with chicken pot pie at a cooking class at MK (868 N. Franklin St., River North, 312-482-9179). Chef Erick Williams will walk you through pie-crafting techniques while you sip on a hot buttered rum cocktail made with housemade apple butter. Your $20 admission to the 4:30 p.m. class (register by e-mailing lbecker@dmkrestaurants.com) includes a drink, apple butter, and recipe cards, but there will be no charge if you decide to stick around for dinner once the session wraps up.
