Monday, 7/1: Brewery Ommegang and Saveur Magazine present Hop Chef–a culinary contest challenging chefs to create the best dish and beer pairing with an Ommegang ale. Competitors include Cleetus Friedman (Fountainhead), Cosmo Goss (Publican Quality Meats), Tim Cottini (Fork), Jacob Saben (Graham Elliot Bistro), Alex Ageneau (Paris Club), Craig Fass (Bad Apple), and Rick Gresh (David Burke’s Primehouse). The event will be held at Paris Club (59 W. Hubbard St., 312-595-0800) from 7 to 10 p.m., tickets are $60.

Monday, 7/1: Throughout July and August, Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar (River North and Lincolnshire locations) will offer a two-course prix fixe menu. The “Taste the Season” dinner costs $40.95 and includes chili lime prawns, filet mignon, and pecan-crusted Scottish salmon along with sides.

Monday, 7/1: Ovie’s (120 N. Canal St., 312-902-1111) Sandwich of the Month program donates part of the tab from a specified sandwich to a different nonprofit each month. Order a Caprese BLT at Ovie during July, and $5 of the $15 price tag will go to the Ovarian Cancer Symptom Awareness Organization.

Tuesday, 7/2: Follow the Tour De France at Paris Club (59 W. Hubbard St., 312-595-0800). As the race progresses through the French countryside, executive chef Alex Ageneau will serve a traditional dish from each region. This week guests can sample the flavors of Provence with roasted daurade, shellfish, and bouillabaisse broth.

Wednesday, 7/3: Celebrate the halfway point of the work week with Table, Donkey and Stick's (2728 W. Armitage Ave., 773-486-8525) new Burger Night. Every Wednesday from 5 to 10 p.m. guests can order a burger, pint of beer and a shot of bitters, all for $15.

Thursday, 7/4: Pig roasts are big in Chicago this summer, so it only makes sense that Porkchop (941 W. Randolph St., 312-733-9333) is celebrating Independence Day with a whole hog barbecue. The restaurant will start serving $3 pork sliders at 11:30 a.m. Wash them down with a red, white, or blue Red Bull bourbon lemonade for $7. Live music kicks in at 8 p.m.

Friday, 7/5: Free snow cones! Ian Schrager’s hotel PUBLIC Chicago (1301 N. State Pkwy., 312-787-3700) is sending its Ice Trike to Chicago’s lakefront to serve up handcrafted frozen treats from the Pump Room every Sunday afternoon. Look for the bike during a preview run this Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. Follow @publichotels for location updates. 

Friday, 7/5: Friday night's Supper Club is the new prix fixe special at Chicago Firehouse (1401 S. Michigan Ave., 312-786-1401). Offered from 3 to 11 p.m., the $50 dinner comes complete with relish tray, soup or salad, choice of entrée, and dessert. Enjoy it alfresco on the restaurant’s garden patio.

Sunday, 7/6: The Rice Table Indonesian Catering (3820 Enfield Ave., 847-644-6331) will serve up satay at their monthly rijsttafel, a dinner of multiple Indonesian-style small plates and rice, to recreate the traditional feast held by Dutch colonialists and to sample the country’s cuisine. The catering company will take over Dutch restaurant Vincent (1475 W. Balmoral Ave., 773-334-7168) for the meal, which starts at 5:30. Tickets are $42.94.
