Time for a sweet break: Every Friday from now through August, David Burke’s Primehouse (616 N. Rush St., River North, 312-660-7161) will put on their annual ice cream pop-up, but there’s a twist this year—each week will spotlight a different take on an ice cream float. Your options in June will be a reverse root beer float (root beer sorbet and Goose Island vanilla cream soda) this Friday and an Orange Creamsicle (vanilla candied orange ice cream with Goose Island orange cream soda) on the 26th. The $5 floats are available from 3 to 5 p.m.

Saturday, June 20

Up for a weekend road trip? The Wisconsin Beer Lover’s Festival takes place from 1 to 5 p.m. today at the Bayshore Town Center (5800 N. Bayshore Drive; Glendale, Wisconsin; 414-332-8136), and it’s a great chance to dive in to the brew scene in the state up north. Representatives from more than 40 'Sconnie favorites, such as New Glarus Brewing Company, Sprecher Brewery, and Lakefront Brewery, will be on hand to share their offerings, and your entry gets you unlimited samplings of beers and their respective food pairings. Tickets are $45 if you buy them in advance here.

The latest installment of the slurp-tastic smackdown known as the Ramen Battle at Yusho (2835 N. Kedzie Ave., Logan Square, 773-904-8558) will pit Big Star’s Tom Van Lente and Jonathan Zaragoza of Birrieria Zaragoza against one another in a fundraiser for food-focused non-profit Pilot Light. For $35 a person, starting at 4 p.m., you can nab your choice of their takes on ramen, an order of soft serve, and a draft cocktail.

If your dad taught you how to fish, repay the favor on Father’s Day with a surf and turf dinner at Sink|Swim (3213 W. Armitage Ave., Logan Square) in collaboration with Richie Farina (Moto). The five-course meal, available starting at 5 p.m., runs for $60, and there’s an option to add beverage pairings from Danny Shapiro.
