Openings

Open now: Three cheers for the opening of Ten Mile House, (1700 Central St., Evanston, 847-905-0669) which is presently serving classed-up comfort food within walking distance of Northwestern’s Ryan Field.

Monday, November 24: Lake View’s latest catch is Fahlstrom’s Fresh Fish Market (1258 W. Belmont Ave.), a hybrid seafood shop/fast casual joint from Glenn Fahlstrom (of Glenn’s Diner fame). Look for a soft opening Friday and Saturday (just food, no shopping), followed by the full-scale operation Monday.

Morsels

Raise a glass (finally) to Oak + Char (217 W. Huron St., River North, 312-643-2427), which opened late last month but has been operating without a liquor license ever since. Now that they have approval to serve alcohol at long last, toast the occasion with one of their hot toddies for two.

Here’s why you haven’t been able to stop in to La Madia (59 W. Grand Ave., River North, 312-329-0400) this week: The restaurant is in the process of transforming into the similar-but-different Osteria La Madia, with an expanded menu (think handcrafted pastas) in addition to their wood-fired pizzas. The quick change will be completed in time to reopen Sunday.

David Burke’s Primehouse (616 N. Rush St., River North, 312-660-6000) is also stepping into the updating-itself fray, with their new “Prime Spot at Primehouse” lunch menu. Charcuterie boards, a thin grilled burger, a lobster roll, and a locally focused beer list are among the mid-day options—the restaurant recommends calling for a reservation if you want to get in on the afternoon action.

And a quick programming note: Because we have to start prepping Thanksgiving dinner, like, now, the Dish newsletter will be off next week. See you in December!
