The trendy Ramen burger makes its Chicago appearance at Buzz.

In the not-too-distant past, it seemed like a new burger place opened every week.

Since that beefy glut, it’s been a dry spell, whetting the market’s appetite again for Buzz (1935 W. Irving Park Rd., 773-880-9810), a gourmet-burger restaurant scheduled to open on Monday under the partner Marcel Somfelean (Grocery Bistro) and chef Leonardo Del Valle.

Buzz’s menu offers five small plates, nine burgers, salads, and sides. Most of the burgers cost $10, including their American burger: a grass-fed half-pound Angus patty with aged cheddar, bacon, a fried egg, and charred balsamic onions. The Stroganoff “Burger” comprises braised short ribs, cremini mushroom gravy, and egg noodles on a pretzel bun. A Cubano Burger, a Foie Burger, and a pan-Asian-inflected Ramen Burger also feature.

Somfelean says the 48-seat full-service restaurant will offer dinner only for a month, then add lunch, then one month later add liquor. Till then, it’s BYO.

Buzz also pre-empts the name of one of our catalog of great unrealized business ideas, a bar selling innovative honey-based cocktails. Guess we’ll have to use our second-choice name: Apiary.
