A model walks down the runway at the Chloe show.

STELLA

Stella McCartney keeps it real, and thus brings something very special to Paris Fashion Week. Her silly invitations make you smile (this year, it was a small magnetic board with six letters spelling out “STELLA”). It’s admirable that she’ll donate the huge wall of greenery which served as backdrop for her show to a housing project in Paris. And then there’s the way she tells her models to smile. What fun.

The clothes were sheer Stella: flirty chiffon dresses, onesies, long, light jumpsuits, and lovely white blazers.

Stella mixes both “flou” and tailoring perfectly, with a trench over a pretty dress.

So many cute prints.

If you’d like to see the quirky/hot model of the moment Agyness Deyn in an slammin’ backless dress, here you go.

And here’s a clip from the show’s finale, where the models walked to Paul McCartney’s “Blackbird.”

CHLOE

Like Stella, Chloe is young, young, young. But in a slightly different way.

Chloe is no longer as girly-pretty as it was in the old days, but neither is it as harsh as last season, when Paulo Melim Andersson came to the helm for the first time and stomped all over the bows and Peter Pan blouses.

A lot of people I talked to didn’t like the Chloe show Saturday—too transparent, too young for the price, too fluid and unstructured to flatter. I liked it. In the long, floaty looks, there was even some similarity to another debut collection of last season: Nina Ricci. A more streetwise version, of course.

I don’t long to buy it all in the covetable, this-will-become-a-collectors-item way that I did when Phoebe Philo was designing, but I do want imitate a few of the silhouettes. For instance, I would like to be tall and thin enough to look chic in a nightgown with a cardigan thrown over—like this:

I always like the energy at Chloe, but they tell the models to walk so fast, it can be hard for my camera to focus.

The fabulous purple, navy, teal combo. Fresh, right?

Transparent pants—or “shants,” as some people call them—strike again.

I want to wear something exactly like this outfit below. It is perfect.

Sorry to gush, but I didn’t expect to like this show at all.  Surprises are always lovely.  And so rare.

And now mesdames et messieurs, apropos of nothing (on so many levels) the ubiquitous Courtney Love, on her way to sit with Ludivine Sagnier.
