Have Mercy

The Mercy Home for Boys & Girls (mercyhome.org) launched Mercy Beaucoup! (1545 N. Wells St.; 312-202-6794, mercybeaucoup.com), a new resale boutique in Old Town. “The main thing about the boutique is for kids from the Mercy Home to get experience working,” says Halina Bobella, a sales assistant who helps supervise the young working adults from the charity. “For many of them, it’s their first job, so we’re teaching them how to do things, like approach customers, dress up for work, and run the register.” Another priority of the boutique is to help raise funds and awareness for the charity so it can offer similar programs for the more than 700 children it helps each year; all proceeds go to Mercy Home. Ranging from $3 to $400, the boutique’s inventory is all donated. Now in progress, the Mercy Beaucoup! summer sale offers 20 percent off women’s pants, jeans, shorts, suits, and shoes; 20 to 30 percent off selected women’s dresses, tops, and skirts; 20 to 30 percent off selected housewares; and 30 percent off men’s clothing, ties, and shoes.
