Calling All Denim Junkies

The multi-designer denim boutique DNA 2050 (900 N. Michigan Ave., 3rd floor; 312-944-0040) returns to Chicago with a new home at the 900 Shops on Saturday, September 19th. The store originally opened a temporary location in Lincoln Park from September 2008 through May 2009. “[It] was a pop up shop for us to test the market,” says Gulsan Alpan, a senior buyer for DNA 2050. “As this concept evolved further, we also realized that it is a more urban concept that will have more success in a downtown location rather than a neighborhood.” The new, permanent 2,573-square-foot shop features more than 34 designer lines for women and 25 for men. Six labels—including Nobody ($180 to $250) and Red Pepper ($280 to $290)—are new to Chicagoland. Well known favorites include True Religion ($170 to $320), MiH ($190 to $280), 7 for All Mankind ($170 to $260), and Jean Shop ($190 to $1,210). Seventy percent of the boutique’s inventory is denim, but DNA 2050 also sells additional clothing and accessories for women from Graham & Spencer ($130 to $460) and Torn by Ronny Kobo ($80 to $450); for men, goods come from J. Lindeberg ($140 to $550) and Shades of Greige ($60 to $290). A grand-opening event with drinks, snacks, music, and models will be held in early October.
