The Property: Mark Giangreco, the sports director and lead sports anchor at WLS-TV ABC 7, has bought a two-bedroom condo on a high floor at One Museum Park, the pair of new condo towers that overlook the south end of Grant Park.

Giangreco closed on the condo—a two-bedroom, two-bath unit with a den, totaling about 1,000 square feet—on December 9th. He had been living in a West Loop loft that he bought for $397,500 in 2001 (he sold that place on January 4th for $425,000). Last week, Giangreco told me that he had been looking for a new home “for two or three years,” first checking out the high-rises along East Randolph Street before heading to the other end of Grant Park. “You get so much more for your money on the south [end of the park],” he said. “It was hundreds of thousands of dollars different.”

There were other advantages to buying in the Museum Park section of the South Loop, Giangreco said. “The view looking south to north is more dramatic,” he said, and his list of walk-to restaurants includes The Gage, and Gioco. What’s more, Giangreco’s balcony overlooks one of his frequent stops: Soldier Field.

Giangreco has been at Channel 7 since 1994, after 12 years at WMAQ-TV NBC 5. With his colleague Janet Davies, Giangreco also hosts Channel 7’s annual New Year’s Eve coverage.

Price Points: The Museum Park complex closed three more high-end sales on January 14th alone. All the sales were in the newer One Museum Park West building (the shorter, green-glass building on the right in the photo). They included two three-bedroom units on the 14th floor—one of them went for $1,811,150, and the other for $1,110,500—and a three-bedroom unit on the 13th floor that sold for $1,066,100.
