Richard Gillman, the former CEO of Republic Windows and Doors, has sold his multimillion-dollar condo at 30 West Oak Street. Gillman’s abrupt closing of Republic’s Goose Island factory in December 2008 led to a workers’ protest that drew national attention. Last September the state’s attorney charged Gillman and other company officials with plotting to loot Republic and establish a new company in Iowa. Gillman—who, through his lawyer, has denied any wrongdoing—awaits trial after being released on $5-million bail.

According to information from the Cook County Recorder of Deeds, Gillman and his wife, Sharon, bought the new ten-room condominium from the developer, Smithfield Properties, in April 2007 for $2.6 million. They sold the place on March 3rd for $3.875 million, 84 percent of their $4.595 million asking price. The condo is on the 16th floor of a 24-story bow-shaped building designed by the architecture firm of Booth Hansen.

Photos for the listing of the three-bedroom, 4,708-square-foot condo show contemporary finishes, including a minimalist kitchen and master bath, as well as bold colors on the home’s rear walls that balance its all-glass south wall. The names of the buyers have not yet appeared in public records. I could not reach the Gillmans for comment.

ALSO on Wednesday, the sale closed on the former Wilmette home of the jailed political fundraiser Tony Rezko. David Roeder of the Sun-Times reported Monday that the 30-room house had been sold, but that he didn’t know the sale price. I learned this morning that the house went for $3.075 million, slightly off its most recent asking price of $3.299 million. I do not yet know the names of the buyers.
