List Price: $1.249 million
Sale Price: $1.1 million
The Property: Cam Barker, the 23-year-old Blackhawks defenseman who signed a three-year, $9.25-million contract with the team in early July, has bought a condo on the top floor of a new building in Bucktown.

The condo building is designed by the Seattle architects Miller|Hull.

Barker’s three-bedroom condo is on the fourth (top) floor.

The Blackhawks drafted Barker, a Winnipeg native, in 2004, when he was the third overall draft pick. In the seasons since, he has skated with the Norfolk Admirals and the Rockford IceHogs (both in the American Hockey League), as well as with the Blackhawks. In the 2008-20009 season, he had six goals and 34 assists in 68 outings with the Blackhawks.

Barker’s three-bedroom condo is on the fourth (top) floor of a sleek new building designed by the Seattle architects Miller|Hull and built by Ranquist Development. His condo, which I toured when it was still on the market, is distinguished by a wide terrace that wraps the south and east sides, essentially extending the indoor living space out past its glass walls. The views to the city skyline are spectacular.

I could not reach Barker for comment. The deal closed August 31st, though information about the sale did not appear at the Cook County Recorder of Deeds until September 15th.

Price Points: The condo was originally priced at $1.39 million; Barker’s purchase price is 21 percent off that. Except for the previously sold space that shares the top floor with Barker’s new home, the condos in the building were priced in the $700,000 range. View-wise, they are not in the same league.
