Ten-year-old home in Glenview

List Price: $3.15 million
Sale Price: $2.85 million
The Property: Set amid lush landscaping and towering oak trees, this 15-room house with a large wrap-around porch sold for the highest price in Glenview since early 2008. Built in 2000 on an acre and a half of land, the house has five bedrooms and seven-plus bathrooms. There is a screen porch, a library, a breakfast room with a fireplace, and on the third floor, a “teen retreat,” says Anne Dubray, the agent on the sale, which closed August 26th.

“It’s beautiful and homey inside, with lots of window seats and charm,” Dubray says. “It has all the class of an older home.” Listing photos showed large formal rooms with lots of windows, a wide main hallway, and a traditional-style kitchen. Outside there is a saltwater swimming pool and a mini-kitchen that overlooks a very deep back yard.

According to the Cook County Recorder of Deeds, Todd and Mary Feldmeir had the house built new in 2000, but there is no record of what they paid for the lot or for construction. I could not reach the Feldmeirs for comment. Dubray listed the place in mid-June and very quickly sold it to buyers who, she says, “used to walk by it all the time and made an offer.” (The buyers are not yet identified in public records.) She says that several other potential buyers waited in the wings in case the first deal fell through. “It’s a special house that a lot of people admired,” she says.

Price Points: The last Glenview home to sell in this price range went for $2.85 million in January 2008, according to Midwest Real Estate Data. But back in the good old days of 2007, three Glenview houses went for over $3 million each; the highest was $3.7 million.
