Thrift shops are a mixed bag. At the Buffalo Exchange (1478 N Milwaukee Ave.; 773-227-9558), a secondhand store in Wicker Park, you'll find anything from Gap to Gucci hiding on the racks. The store uses a buy-sell-trade model (similar to Crossroads Trading Co. or Plato's Closet) so the selection of recycled fashion is ever-changing.

One things for sure: The deals will be great this weekend. On Saturday, April 19, the Buffalo Exchange holds a Dollar Day Sale from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Items will be marked down to a buck, and proceeds will be donated to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum to raise awareness of pollination conservation.

This also marks the Buffalo Exchange's 40th anniversary, and the Tucson-based business has converted a vintage Airstream trailer into a traveling pop-up shop in honor of its birthday. The trailer will be parked in front of the store on Saturday, filled with western wear, vintage items, boho clothing and accessories. Along with giveaways, the store will have live music from 2 to 4 p.m.
