Known for creating smart, tailored dress shirts, London-based menswear brand Charles Tyrwhitt (pronounced “tirr-it”) will open its first Chicago store at 208 South LaSalle Street in the Loop on February 3. The British invasion is a calculated move; Charles Tyrwhitt’s U.S. sales grew 35 percent last year and the brand now sells more shirts in the U.S. than in the UK. Conclusion? Americans dig a crisp English shirt.

Along with formal cotton shirts in three fits, the 2,300 square-foot Chicago store will house an impressive spread of proper gentleman’s accessories: silk ties, silver cufflinks, wool suits, cotton cashmere sweaters, raincoats, and fine calf leather shoes. The perks—monogramming, a six-month return policy, and an ongoing four-shirts-for-$199 deal—aren’t too shabby either.
