Since launching Mineralogy in 2011, metalsmith Theresa Cowan has handmade her jewelry—which are inspired by an earth science lecture she attended—from her home, meeting clients in coffee shops and ice cream stores to chat about important purchases such as custom engagement rings. Now she’s opening a brick-and-mortar shop.

Mineralogy Studio + Storefront will open in North Center in three weeks, and the tightly curated shop will showcase Cowan’s own bracelets, necklaces, earrings (including this turquoise pair that’s set in recycled solid 14-karat gold, $222), and rings (all of which she’ll create onsite), plus paper goods, wall art, apothecary items, home goods, and ceramics from a selection of artisans across the country.

The space is designed to reflect the aesthetic of Mineralogy jewelry, with brass accents, vintage furniture, marble, Lucite, wood, and mineral specimens. “You’ll be able to see my love for textures, warm tones, foliage, and mint green,” says Cowan, who plans to keep the store closed to the public on Mondays and Tuesdays in order to keep up with production work.

Mineralogy Studio + Storefront (1944 W. Montrose Ave., opens June 24, with a grand opening celebration (including raffles and free adult beverages) planned for June 27 at noon. Regular hours will be Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
