Does Borris Powell ever sleep? Since winning the Oscars Designer Challenge in 2011, he's been Chicago's go-to designer for elegant evening wear, often making custom pieces for his clientele. At the same time, he's been expanding his line to include ready-to-wear, men's custom suits and handbags. His latest Fall/Winter 2014 collection is an American-inspired collection using dark and rich fabrics using simple cuts and a focus on details.

Now, Powell is adding accessories to his repertoire. For men, he's created a leather wallet, customizable in different colors. For women, he's developed a shade of lipstick called Red Garden. The bright red hue is meant to be bold enough for evening, but sophisticated enough for daytime.

Powell will debut his new accessories and collection during a runway show, titled "Freedom," at Block Thirty Seven (108 N. State St., level 3) on Friday, March 14 at 8:30 p.m. The lipstick will be available for $26.50. Tickets ($40-$100) can be purchased online at ticketpeak.com/freedomBjP.
