Hairstyle guru Mario Tricoci has helped launch dozens of modeling careers with his local modeling competition: "Mario, Make Me a Model." Nearly all 26 finalists that have gone through the annual competition since 2008 have earned contracts, and a new crop of aspiring models are hoping to follow in their footsteps this Friday.
The five finalists—see them here—have been narrowed down from a field of 400. They'll compete in a runway show on Friday, May 16 at the Museum of Broadcast Communications (360 N. State St.).
Along with a look at these fresh faces, the show is also an opportunity to check out the local design scene. Chicagoans who will be showing collections include luxury designer Azeeza, experimental designer Agnes Hamerlik, womenswear designer Lagi Nadeau, menswear designer Misanthrope, and the socially conscious label Two Penny Blue, which donates a school uniform to a girl in need in Africa for every jacket sold.
Tickets start at $39.50, and can be purchased at mariomakemeamodel.com.
