This Week’s Top Story

Crate & Barrel’s more modern sister company, CB2 (cb2.com), just dropped a design collaboration with Gwyneth Paltrow’s lifestyle brand goop. In a statement about goop’s first home collection, which includes furniture, décor, and accessories, Paltrow wrote: “Our priority was to nail this juxtaposition of functionality and elegance. Like goop, CB2 has a contemporary approach to making eclectic pieces harmonize within a room. With their support, we designed a collection that (we believe) meets the needs of modern families.”

Pieces include a pink velvet sofa inspired by midcentury Italian design ($1,999); African-inspired wooden stools that double as coffee tables ($499–$549); and a meditation pillow set ($279). If you’re already earmarking holiday gifts, there’s also a perfectly goop-y golden Champagne box ($69.95) — which can double, the marketing materials note, as a holder for one’s crystal collection.

Pop-Up

To celebrate Coach’s collaboration with pop star Selena Gomez, Neiman Marcus (737 N. Michigan Ave., neimanmarcus.com) is hosting a Coach x Selena Gomez pop-up shop through September 14. Chicago is one of only three cities to have the pop-up, which will sell clothing, bags, small leather goods, and accessories from the line. Pieces are infused with the singer’s playful spirit, and many include a bunny motif or a motto handwritten by Gomez: Not perfect, always me.

Health & Beauty

Barneys (15 E. Oak St., barneys.com) hosts a personal appearance from perfumer Paolo Terenzi on September 7. Terenzi is the nose behind the Italian luxury label Tiziana Terenzi, which makes hand-crafted scents sourced from raw natural materials. During his appearance at Barneys, which runs from noon to 5 p.m., the perfumer will chat with shoppers about the scents he’ll release this fall.

Equinox (equinox.com) partners with River Roast (315 N. LaSalle Dr.) to host “River Flow” on September 8. The event kicks off with a yoga class on the restaurant’s river-facing veranda; afterwards, stick around for pastries and breakfast cocktails. Get tickets here.

Bath & Body Works (835 N. Michigan Ave., bathandbodyworks.com) may be best known for its ’90s cult fragrances like Cucumber Melon and Juniper Breeze. But the brand’s new products capture the spirit of wellness-obsessed 2018 with therapeutic properties. The new Aromatherapy Love Collection, now in stores, uses vanilla extract to inspire relaxation; it also has rose oil, which is said to boost feelings of connection and confidence. Shop the collection here; use the code FEELINFALL at checkout to get 20 percent off on your purchase through September 3.
