Weekend Photos: Benchmark

Seen: lots of late brunchers enjoying the brilliant blue sky and cold beer. Not seen: any spiraling flyovers from the Chicago Air and Water Show. No matter. The crowd at this brand new Old Town bar from the Four Corners Tavern Group (Kirkwood, West End, et cetera) seemed more into Sunday-afternoon socializing than aeronautical derring-do. And, really, the spot’s fully retractable roof provides all the overhead oohs and ahs any bar needs. Browse our photos below.

About Seen on the Scene

Call it bar hopping by proxy: Each week we send our photographers into the thick of the action to capture the latest openings and the most buzzed-about events; then, on Mondays, we post the photos here, where you can view them without getting elbowed in the side or having a drink spilled down your pants. You’re welcome. And for those who do run into our photographers out and about, be sure to smile for the camera.
