Openings

As part of a rebrand effort, the brewery formerly known as Finch’s Beer Co. opened a production brewery and restaurant in the old Breakroom Brewery space. Finch Beer Co. & Kitchen (2925 W. Montrose Ave., Albany Park, 773-942-7949) serves up an exclusive selection of beers and pub fare from Matthias Merges (Yusho).

In other brew news, commercial brewery Dovetail Brewery (1800 W. Belle Plaine Ave., Ravenswood, 773-638-1414) debuts its German- and Belgian-style beer. An on-site taproom featuring tours and tastings is open Fridays and Saturdays to start.

5411 Empanadas (3715 N. Southport Ave., Lake View, 872-802-4835) has added a fifth location of its Argentinian-inspired sweet and savory baked empanadas. This one joins the burgeoning Southport Corridor.

Because we can’t seem to get enough of Cajun seafood boils, Mad Boiler (1045 W. Madison St., West Loop, 312-291-8182) has entered the fracas, bringing 11 market-price seafood boil options, sides, and a full bar.

The long-awaited Andersonville location of sandwich shop, deli, and bakery Goddess and Grocer (5318 N. Clark St., Andersonville, 872-302-4074) is here. All locations will donate $1 for each slice and $10 from each whole rainbow cake through June 26 to support victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando.

Morsels

The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list dropped on Monday, and Alinea (1723 N. Halsted St., Lincoln Park, 312-867-0110) appeared at number 15, finding its way back into the top 20 after last year’s precipitous slide from number 9 to number 26. It remains the only Chicago spot on the maybe-a-little-dubious list.

If you’ve been longing to be among the Bayside High obsessives at the Saved by the Max pop-up (1941 W. North Ave., Wicker Park, 773-687-9824), you have more chances—the Saved by the Bell-themed dining craze has been extended through the end of the year (tickets here).
