What You Need to Know About Chicago’s Dining Scene This Week

Openings

DMK Restaurants (DMK Burger Bar, Fish Bar, Ada St.) has entered the coffee game with Werewolf Coffee Bar (1765 N. Elston Ave., Bucktown). The space’s primary use is as a company clubhouse for DMK employees, but the public is invited to drop in for java drinks made with Dark Matter and Stumptown beans; Floriole pastries; and Vosges chocolates—served out of a refurbished Wonder Bread truck–turned barista station.

The owners of nearby Italian restaurant Legno are behind the newly opened café and bakery Mia’s Gelateria Focacceria (4200 N. Central Ave., Portage Park). Beyond its selection of frosty treats, the quick-service spot also serves up pizzas (whole and slices) and sandwiches.

Morsels

Our short-lived flirtation with Chipotle’s Asian-style spinoff chain has come to an end. Shophouse (24 E. Jackson Blvd., Loop) has shuttered all its locations, and they’ve been acquired by a different Asian DIY chain: Bibibop Asian Grill, based out of Columbus, Ohio. Expect to see ours change over sometime this summer.
