May 7, 2011–The 24th annual Alzheimer’s Association Chicago Rita Hayworth Gala took place at the Hilton Chicago with more than 600 guests generously donating more than $900,000 to the Alzheimer’s Association. Sandy Zane & Ned Bennett and Kindred Healthcare were honored at the event. Funds raised through the Rita Hayworth Gala support the Alzheimer’s Association’s mission of providing care and support resources for individuals and families impacted by Alzheimer’s disease, as well as funding groundbreaking research into the cause, treatment and prevention of Alzheimer’s. The evening included a cocktail reception, three-course dinner, program, auctions and live music for dancing. Princess Yasmin Aga Khan began this event in honor of her mother, actress Rita Hayworth, who died as a result of Alzheimer’s disease. Under Princess Yasmin Aga Khan’s leadership, over $55 million has been raised through the Rita Hayworth Galas. These funds, combined with other donations, have helped the Alzheimer’s Association work toward our vision of a world without Alzheimer’s disease.
