The Chicago Fashion Foundation Scholarship Awards

March 4, 2010 — The Chicago Fashion Foundation hosted their third annual scholarship awards at Macy’s State Street. Following the cocktail hour, a runway show hosted by 24/7’s Catie Keogh celebrated the emerging talents of ten scholarship finalists and boasted global looks inspired by Chicago’s Sister Cities. Grand prize winner Eunyoung Joo took home a $5,000 scholarship for her Kremlin-inspired wool and fur dress.

Chicagoans of the Year 2009 Luncheon

January 21, 2010 — For the 16th consecutive year Chicago magazine honored its Chicagoans of the Year, six individuals who have changed life in the city for the better. The magazine celebrated their achievements at its annual Chicagoans of the Year Luncheon at the Four Seasons Chicago Hotel sponsored in part by Coldwell Banker. The Chicagoans of the Year honorees each received a donation to the charity of their choice, courtesy of the Chicago Tribune Foundation.

Sub-Zero/Wolf Kitchen Design Contest

February 3, 2010 — The Regional Sub-Zero/Wolf Showroom in Glendale Heights honored the winners and participants of the Sub-Zero/Wolf Kitchen Design Contest (KDC). Held over a two year time span, professional kitchen designers, builders, and architects were encouraged to build high-end beautiful kitchens using Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances. With many categories, and judged by professionals in the industry, the KDC is often referred to as the “Oscars of kitchen design.” Prizes included cash (national winners received $15,000), local and national recognition, appliances, and even an all-expense paid trip to the luxurious Breakers Hotel & Resort in Palm Beach, Florida. The KDC celebration included live music, cocktails, wine samplings from a wine expert, and hors d’oeuvres prepared by Sub-Zero/Wolf Corporate chefs. The event was sponsored by Chicago Home + Garden magazine.

Top Doctors Reception

February 3rd, 2010 — Cadillac and Chicago magazine hosted a reception honoring the physicians featured in January 2010 “Chicago’s Top Doctors” editorial cover story. The reception, held at the Museum of Science and Industry, began with welcoming remarks from senior editor Geoffrey Johnson of Chicago magazine, followed with a toast given by Cadillac’s George Gulliver. Guests enjoyed tasty bites and were granted private access to the Museum of Science and Industry’s Newest Exhibit, You! The Experience, which celebrates the connection between the mind, body, and spirit with more than 50 interactive experiences. Guests were also treated to a viewing of the new 2010 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid, CTS Sport Wagon, SRX, and the CTS-V.

PAWS Chicago’s Eighth Annual Fur Ball

November 13, 2009 – More than 600 attendees gathered at The Drake Hotel for an evening of elegance and compassion, raising more than $730,000 for Chicago’s homeless animals. The event catered to both people and pets with a dinner buffet and dancing. Sponsors included A. Marek Fine Jewelry, Bentley, and The Drake Hotel. Co-chairs were Diana and David Makowski along with Lori and Ted Souder. Corporate chairs were Amy and Julian Mack. Popular US99 DJ, Lisa Dent, auctioned off a signed Taylor Swift guitar which raised $10,000. The Eighth Annual Fur Ball was PAWS Chicago’s most successful event to date!

Pierre Deux Celebrates the Holiday Season

November 17, 2009 – French Country home décor store Pierre Deux opened up the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons with the event “Haute Holiday Tabletops.” Guests perused the store’s Winnetka location and listened as three Chicagoland designers discussed ways to jazz up a dining room table for the holidays. The festive gathering featured a fall tablescape design by Sue Carleson, a decorative Thanksgiving buffet by Joan Frost, and a holiday-inspired tabletop by Holly Wilson. Chicago Home + Garden editor, Jan Parr, also spoke on do-it-yourself Thanksgiving designs that are inexpensive, yet chic.

Chicago Symphony Orchestra – Opening Night Gala

October 3, 2009 — The Chicago Symphony Orchestra kicked off its 119th season in style with their annual Opening Night Gala featuring soprano Renee Fleming. Gala patrons gathered for a cocktail reception at the Symphony Center for Renee Fleming’s performance, and celebrated at the Chicago Hilton with dinner and dancing. The CSO partnered with Chicago’s Glass Slipper Project to raise donations of eveningwear for local women to attend prom.
